Photography News June 2021

This is the first edition of our new monthly photography newsletter. The Association supports photography activities as a powerful conservation tool that can be applied at branch and individual level.

SA Hunters Photography Club

The SA Hunters Photography Club was established to promote photography in the Association. The club is open to all members of SA Hunters, their family and friends that share the Association’s interests and values. We plan to offer a variety of activities such as outings, photography challenges and training. The club’s Facebook group is already on the go, and we invite all interested persons to join.

We will be presenting two-hour online training sessions twice a month to teach various aspects of wildlife and nature photography. The training will comprise lectures and group discussions (Q&A) or a combination thereof. The dates for the online sessions will be announced soon.

Photography training

In order to promote photography in the Association, SA Hunters approached well-known nature photographers Marette Bennett and Brett Stanley of Refined Edges Wildlife Photography and Training  to share their photography knowledge and tips with members through workshops. Tommy and Miekie Liversage completed the photography course in March as a test run. They were pleasantly surprised and applied their newly-acquired skills during a visit to Kgalagadi. The results were excellent with photographs that are of magazine quality.

Due to the third wave of the Covid-19 upon us, the workshops will be held later in the year because it requires intensive interaction and close contact. As soon as this third wave is on the turn, we will announce more dates. The dates for later in the year have been set and SA Hunters negotiated considerable discount of 25% off on the course fees for members. Members of SA Hunters can attend the two-day workshop for R2800, while non-members can attend for R3800. Therefore, it is worth your while to join the Association to qualify for the discount. Only eight people can be accommodated per workshop. Book early to avoid disappointment. Branches that wish to make group bookings will also be assisted and may contact Marette Bennett at sahuntphoto@gmail.com Members of SA Hunters that prefer individual/private tuition, qualify for 15% discount on the regular price.

Kind Regards
Marette Bennett
