- Online sessions
The online sessions on exposure modes held on 15 and 16 October were a great success. Although 40 members registered for the sessions, some experienced electricity and internet disruptions and could not attend. Following the wide interest in this topic, we plan to rehost the sessions at a later stage. The date will be announced in January 2022.

- Workshops
The dates for the 2-day workshops at the Rietvlei Nature Reserve in Pretoria, were published in the previous newsletter. There are still two spots open for the workshop on 12 and 13 November (Friday and Saturday).
Costs and course descriptions were included in the previous newsletter.
SA Hunters Photography Club
The Photography Club are for the time being mainly on the Facebook platform. Click here to join and invite your friends. SA Hunters will expand the photography club to branch level in 2022. More information to follow.

- Photo Stories
Sasha Mulder’s Conservation in Action photos of BATSHA the elephant, that achieved her silver in the photo competition, have led to a new challenge for Photography Club members named, Photo Stories.

All SA Hunters members are invited to send their photo stories to sahuntphoto@gmail.com under the heading PHOTO STORIES.
A photo story must consist of the following:
1) a series of 4 photos or more
2) photos must all be 2mb or larger
3) no water marks or frames
4) a text paragraph that fully tells the story
5) the information should include: what, where, when, why and everything that was interesting.
6) camera and lens information
The photography admin will approve the stories on quality and applicability under the Photography Club rules.
- Photography Club cover photos
Cathy Roets’ stunning photograph of 3 young male lions was chosen as the latest cover photo for the Photography Club. Click here for Facebook.
Every fortnight we select a new photograph for the cover. Taryn Engelbrecht’s photograph of the ground hornbill was chosen at the beginning of October. Click here Facebook.

SA Hunters’ Amateur Photography Competition
The results of the September 2021 photography competition are as follows:
DSLR/Mirrorless: Four awards were achieved in the category for Plant- and Animal life. Congratulations to Edmund Hattingh and Pierre van der Berg who were the top performers. Twenty silver awards were achieved in Plant- and Animal life and Sasha Mulder received an award in Conservation in Action BATSHA the elephant. Wendy Venter’s entries in Our Cultural Heritage received two awards. Seven bronze awards were awarded.
Smart phone category: 4 silver and 2 bronze awards for Plant- and Animal life and one in Our Cultural Heritage category.

The overall winner and category winners for 2021 will be announced end of October.
The 2022 photography competition has started 1 October 2021 and closes on 30 September 2022. Entries during December and January are combined.
The new categories in the 2022 Amateur Photography Competition are:
1) Fauna en Flora DSLR/mirrorless
2) Fauna en Flora Smart Phone
3) Branch activities DSLR/mirrorless/smart phone
4) On the Shooting Range DSLR/mirrorless/smart phone
5) The Hunt DSLR/mirrorless/smart phone (people and animals during the hunt, but not photographs of hunted animals. Send your photographs of trophy and hunted animals to bokspog@sahunter.org for Bokspog in SA Jagter/SA Hunter. REMEMBER to adhere to firearm, shooting range and hunting safety measures when taking photographs at all times.)

- Name and surname
- SA Hunters member number
- SA Hunters Branch
- Mobile number
- E-mail address
- Entrance category
- Location where photograph was taken
- Title of photograph
- Camera and lens model (lens not applicable for mobile phones)
(Tip: Cut and paste the 9 requirements above in your e-mail text box of every entry)
- Photographs must be bigger than 2MB but smaller than 6MB.
- All meta data must be visible. Do not block it.
- Smart phone photographs must by aspect ratio 3:4 wees. Full frame photographs are not accepted.
- Smart phone photographs must be taken without filters and special effects
