Photo tips – the best way to capture garden birds:

1) Find a suitable place where the birds will feel safe and feed them there.

2) The winter months are the best time to attract birds with food, find out what food attracts different birds.

3) Choose different places that do not have disturbing backgrounds.

4) Use the longest telephoto lens you have.

5) Set your shutter speed to 1 / 2000s and higher. Sunbirds 1 / 3000s and higher.

6) Set your focus depth as shallow as possible (F/2.8 to F/6.3), to separate the birds from the background.

7) Set your camera to shoot continuously, so as to capture a series of photos.

8) Get as close as possible, stabilize your camera, stand or sit dead still and be patient, the birds need to get used to your presence.

9) Do not immediately start shooting as the birds’ land, birds are nervous by nature, so give them a chance to calm down first.

10) Always focus on the eye for the bird.

11) Waiting for interaction between the birds and insects as they compete for food can produce exceptional photos.
