Members are requested to comment on the draft White Paper on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of South Africa’s Biodiversity. This is a very important policy that will have a significant impact on the future of the hunting sector as well as private sectors role in the conservation of our wildlife heritage.
The draft White Paper gives effect to recommendations made by the High-Level Panel of Experts (HLP) appointed in 2019 to review our current policies, legislation and practices on matters of elephant, lion, leopard and rhinoceros management, breeding, hunting, trade and handling, but also deals with broader principles for biodiversity conservation and use.
SA Hunters will scrutinize the draft white paper to ensure an integrated and sensible approach to conservation and responsible use of biodiversity resources and members are urged to submit their comments to the Manager Conservation at Lizanne@sahunt.co.za by 10 August, or to the DFFE to Khutadzo Mahamba at whitepaper@dffe.gov.za in 60 days from date of publication – 8th July 2022
